アルメニア独立の生々しい歴史的証言！チェクナヴォリアンのハチャトゥリアンBOX（9枚組）

アルメニア人両親のもとイランで生まれた指揮者、作曲家のロリス・チェクナヴォリアン（1937～）が、手兵のアルメニア・フィルを率いて英ASVにデジタル録音したハチャトゥリアン作品9枚がASV Koreaにより廉価BOXにまとめられました。

これは彼がアルメニア・フィルの首席指揮者兼音楽監督時代（1989～2000年）に録音されたものです。この時期のアルメニアは、1988年のアルメニア地震からの経済的、文化的復興、1991年の旧ソ連からの独立、アゼルバイジャンとの紛争、独立後の外貨不足からの深刻なエネルギー危機、と真の独立を勝ち取るまでの困難な時期を迎えていました。チェクナヴォリアンは芸術面や政治的、宗教的活動（アルメニアは301年、国家として、また民族としても、世界で最初に公式にキリスト教を受容した国です）によりこの困難に立ち向かい、同時にアルメニア・フィルを飛躍的に発展させました。この間アルメニア・フィルは英ASVとCD制作を継続したほか、1991～1993年にはオーストリア放送協会（ORF）にも録音を行いました。

英ASVへの一連のハチャトゥリアン録音は、作曲者も指揮者もオーケストラもアルメニアの血で結ばれたもので、前述したアルメニア独立の困難な時期に録音されたこともあり、精緻なアンサンブルを駆使した情熱的で色彩的、かつ強い訴えかけをもった演奏となっています。またカップリング曲としてイッポリトフ＝イワーノフの名作“コーカサスの風景”と、チェクナヴォリアンの“幻想的舞曲”が聴けるのも魅力です。

このBOXセットは、単にハチャトゥリアンの名作を素晴らしい演奏で鑑賞できるだけでなく、20世紀末のアルメニアの生々しい歴史的証言としてもその価値を失うことは無いでしょう。
